The wild pig of Balabac is the Palawan bearded pig. It lives only in the Philippines, on the chain of islands formed by Balabac, Palawan and the Calamian Islands. It's named for the pale whiskers along its snout.
Locals call it baboy ramo or baboy damo, both meaning wild pig. It's listed as near threatened.
Like all wildlife here, it's protected under the Wildlife Act. In May 2020, a resident of Aborlan, in central Palawan, turned a pair of bearded pigs over to PCSD.
You're unlikely to see one. It stays in the forest and avoids people.

Say no. Trading wildlife, including wild pig meat, without a permit is illegal under the Wildlife Act.
