Why we built this
In Balabac, you find a boat by asking around. A cousin knows a cousin who has a bangka. That works if you already know someone. Visitors usually don't, so they book through agents in the city, and less of the money stays on the islands.
We want visitors to reach the people of Balabac directly, to hear their stories, and to arrive informed about local customs, sea conditions and wildlife safety. When you call a local, the whole fare stays with them.
What we promise
- Discover the destination through the people who call it home.
- Listing is free. Visitors pay the people they hire, directly.
- Numbers owners send us are confirmed by phone, with their permission, before they go live. Places copied from a public business page are labelled as public listings until the owner confirms.
- Owners can change or remove their listing anytime by sending a text.
- Our journal starts with sourced stories; we welcome first-person contributions from residents.
